Many years ago when I was a nipper my mother used to search the shops for strawberries for my birthday which is at the end of June but quite often they weren’t ready and I had to wait until July before the strawberries were in the shops. Now you can get them at any time of the year but I have never bought imported strawberries for my birthday – nothing is as good as a British strawberry; sharp, fragrant and juicy! For me July is the month of the strawberry and this inspired the July block.
Looking forward to the lovely summer nights sitting in the garden listening to nature. This block reminds me of those early evenings when bees come to visit the evening primroses and buddlea.
Please forgive the week’s gap – now we are bringing in the May. If I remember correctly this means to bring in the mayblossom – so this little block with its delicate flowers is just perfect.
I hope you are enjoying the blocks – next week marks the halfway point. After that I will post the border and sash instructions for everyone to complete the wall quilt. Until next week….
Well here we are with the April Block. Seems a long time off but I know it will come round quickly.
Let’s hope that isn’t wishful thinking! We have had so much rain (escaping the worst of the deluge) but not much in the way of freezing temperatures in this little corner of England. By the time March comes it will be the Spring Equinox and we should be looking forward to flowers and bees.
Happy stitching everyone.
Well here we are with the February Block – a simple design embellished with buttons.
I’ve done this with deep pinks but it also looks gorgeous in red.
Remember – choose the colours you like best.
Good Stitching and see you next week.
Let’s hope this doesn’t encourage the snow to come! Most people’s holiday breaks are finished now and travelling to work is such a pain in the snow. I know it does look pretty though…..
This delightful snow couple are holding little twiggy hands and looking lovingly at each other. Ahhh!
I have a little hanger I made a while ago which is a perfect size for a mini-quilt from each block. If you would like to do this too you can download the instructions.
Each month’s blocks finish the same size so you can use these instructions for any or all of the months. Maybe next week you’ll get a picture!
